Reports of NHL Star Trade To Colorado Revealed

Rumors suggesting that Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jake Allen has been traded to the Colorado Avalanche are unfounded. Multiple sources have debunked these reports, confirming that there have been no recent discussions between the two teams. While there have been previous talks, nothing substantial has materialized at this point. Both Darren Dreger and Chris Johnston have refuted the claims, emphasizing that no deal has been finalized. However, it’s worth noting that a potential trade between the two teams isn’t entirely out of the question. Allen has been the subject of trade rumors throughout the season, given his suitability for what Colorado requires in a goaltender. Nevertheless, any potential deal would likely hinge on Montreal retaining some of Allen’s salary to facilitate the trade.

Canadiens Not In a Hurry to Make an Allen Trade

The Montreal Canadiens are currently managing a situation with three goaltenders, yet General Manager Kent Hughes has expressed his willingness to retain all three if the right trade offer doesn’t materialize for Montreal. Similarly, the Colorado Avalanche are reportedly in the market for a forward, so taking on a significant amount of salary in a potential Jake Allen trade might impede their efforts in that regard.

Pierre LeBrun shared on Twitter, “Habs GM Kent Hughes mentioned on our @GotYerBackPod podcast that he’s still exploring options with other teams… He also noted that there’s no rush to finalize a deal before March 8 and is open to waiting until the offseason if necessary. He won’t rush into anything based on market conditions.”
