Hall of Fame QB weighs in on what Bears should do with Justin Fields

Realistically, there’s approximately six more weeks of ongoing discussion about Justin Fields. It’s possible that Bears GM Ryan Poles could replicate last year’s strategy by executing a major trade in early March, but it’s doubtful. Such a move, like sending Fields to Atlanta, Las Vegas, or Pittsburgh before the draft, probably wouldn’t serve the leverage goals Poles has in mind.

Therefore, we can anticipate another six weeks of various opinions and analysis regarding Fields. These discussions will arise unexpectedly, such as the recent commentary from Kurt Warner. As an NFL Network analyst with substantial football knowledge, Warner shared his thoughts during a recent appearance on the Rich Eisen show.

He declared, “I’ve been outspoken on this.” We may sit here and I completely agree that Justin Fields hasn’t been treated fairly due to the various coordinators, the dearth of talent surrounding him, and other factors. However, if I’m the Bears brass and I’m making this decision. All I have to do is ask, “Has he shown me that he is a franchise quarterback?” Now, that may not be good. “Well, we have so many coordinator changes and we didn’t give him a chance to be his best,” or “Well, we didn’t give him the pieces to prove it.” I understand that.

Ultimately, though, it is the question you must pose because we are living in this very now. If the response to that query isn’t unambiguously, “Yes, we think he’s a franchise quarterback,” We’ve seen enough to conclude that he is a quarterback for a franchise. I think it’s time for you to move on. You are the first choice. There are quarterbacks on the field that have great potential. No promises, that much is clear. However, they appear to be really talented. However, I think you should take a different approach unless you are positive Justin Fields is that guy.” Not the worst Fields take we’ve seen so far this offseason, though those are certain to come later. It appears that an increasing number of individuals within the NFL are accepting that Fields will be wearing a different jersey in 2024 and that the Bears’ choice isn’t as convoluted as many have made it appear. Warner, at least, refrained from saying something absurd, like that Caleb Williams is a fourth-round pick or anything.
