Bruins star pokes fun at Justin Bieber for being Maple Leafs fan

David Pastrnak had a memorable All-Star Game experience, playing alongside Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on Team McDavid, participating enthusiastically in the one-timer event during the skills competition, and even scoring on his own teammate, Jeremy Swayman.

Despite being booed at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Pastrnak had a chance encounter with Justin Bieber, a well-known Toronto Maple Leafs fan who served as co-captain for Team Matthews. Despite their hockey rivalry, Pastrnak acknowledged Bieber’s talent and appreciated his presence at the event, although he couldn’t resist a playful jab at Bieber’s allegiance to the Leafs.

Pastrnak expressed gratitude for Bieber’s support of hockey and recognized the positive impact of having someone of Bieber’s stature involved in the sport. He enjoyed interacting with Bieber, both off and on the ice, and noted the significance of Bieber’s appreciation for hockey in elevating the sport’s profile.

Pastrnak’s playful banter with Justin Bieber goes back to 2019 when Bieber expressed hope for a Maple Leafs victory in a crucial Game 7 against the Bruins. However, Boston emerged victorious, prompting Pastrnak to cheekily respond on social media with a “Not today @justinbieber” post.

At the All-Star Game, Bieber joined Jim Montgomery on the bench, and their camaraderie was evident as cameras frequently captured their celebrations after each goal. Montgomery praised Bieber’s enthusiasm and genuine love for the game, noting his keen appreciation for creative plays and understanding of hockey intricacies due to his Canadian upbringing.

As the Bruins resume practice without Bieber’s infectious energy, they carry the momentum into their upcoming game against the Calgary Flames, aiming to maintain their position atop the NHL standings.
