Newcastle agree to huge clause and £3.5m package for January transfer

The Manchester Evening News has provided insights into Alfie Harrison’s transfer to Newcastle United, which was confirmed last night with signed contracts. According to their report, Newcastle has agreed to include a 40% sell-on clause in the deal, which benefits Manchester City and ensures they receive a substantial payout if Harrison realizes his potential at Newcastle.

MEN Sport also mentions that the total value of the deal could reach £3.5 million with add-ons, although they note that only a ‘nominal fee’ has been paid upfront for the 18-year-old midfielder. Fabrizio Romano further disclosed that Harrison will be under contract until 2027, with an option for an additional year.

Harrison has impressed with eight goals and four assists in just eight appearances at the U18 level this season for Manchester City, earning him a promotion to the U21 squad. He was even seen training with Pep Guardiola’s first team a few months ago, highlighting his potential.

According to The Mail, Paul Midgely, Newcastle’s head of youth recruitment, played a crucial role in securing Harrison’s transfer to Newcastle. Midgely had previously worked with Harrison at Manchester City before joining Newcastle in 2022.
