Rangers are in final stage discussion to sign two-time World Series champion

The Texas Rangers have been internally discussing Brandon Belt, who previously played under manager Bruce Bochy in San Francisco, as reported by ESPN’s Buster Olney. Belt, a two-time World Series champion, has drawn interest from the Rangers.

Having spent 12 seasons with the Giants before a stint with the Blue Jays in 2023, Belt has hinted that his time in baseball might be nearing its conclusion. Despite uncertainties about his future, Belt had a productive season with Toronto, hitting .254/.369/.490 with 19 home runs and 43 RBI, the second-highest home run tally of his career.

The Rangers’ considerations include their financial flexibility under general manager Chris Young and the potential reunion with pitcher Jordan Montgomery, who played a significant role in their 2023 World Series run. Additionally, the team lost Mitch Garver to the Seattle Mariners, a notable blow given his status as a premier offensive player in free agency.

Belt’s connection to Texas, being a native, and the team’s need for a designated hitter make for a compelling fit, although his decision-making process is crucial given his age of 35.

Reflecting on his future in October, Belt expressed uncertainty, emphasizing the importance of discussing the matter with his family before making any decisions.
